A Note from Principal Cotton

Happy Sunday!

We will have benchmark testing for our students in 3rd-5th grade this week and we are asking for your support with the following:

1). Please make sure that your child's Chromebook is fully charged every day before school, they will need it for testing online.

2). Please make sure that they get plenty of rest so that they will be ready to test the next morning.

3). Please make sure they eat breakfast at home or at school to ensure that they receive the appropriate nutrition to be ready for the instructional environment.

This week will be a closed campus due to testing, therefore we will not have volunteers next week to support our students' testing throughout the building. If there's a parent conference or appointment already scheduled with a staff member, those appointments can continue. I appreciate your support as partners in your child's learning in our RHE Family Community.

Thank you! Go Mustangs!

Love,

Principal Cotton

Live Thankfully! 11/8 - 11/10

Ridglea Hills Community -

We have three more days to collect cans for Live Thankfully.  Monday, Nov. 8 - Wednesday, Nov. 10th.

Our numbers weren't looking too good until the call went out, and you answered RHE community!  Our goal is 6,000 cans for the whole school.  As of today, we have 2,175 donated items. That is up from just over 600 items two days ago!!  The breakdown by grade level is:

  • Pre-K - 105
  • Kinder - 740
  • 1st - 380
  • 2nd - 188
  • 3rd - 229
  • 4th - 187
  • 5th - 346

It is always amazing to me how our community pulls together when it counts.  I know there have been a lot of events going on at the same time.  Your time and money have been stretched to support RHE.  and we are grateful.  I would ask, one more time, for you to think about those in our community who are in need as we approach the holiday season.  It's amazing what a couple of bags of groceries can do to help stretch things over the week we will be out.  Any canned food items, mac and cheese, ramen noodles, snacks, PB&J, boxed potatoes, rice, beans, soup, or cereal would be great.  Please make sure things are not packaged in glass jars so they won't be damaged when transported.

Again, there is not a community that has a heart as big as the RHE Mustang family.  We will be proud and grateful for anything that is donated for Live Thankfully.  Next week will be celebrated as "Live Thankfully" week at school.  We will recognize students who show they are living thankfully by being incredible role models of gratitude and love.

If you are busy, or not able to get food items to donate, Live Thankfully has a VENMO account you could contribute to directly.  The code is below.  If you donate that way, put RHE on the line to show what school is represented by your donation.  The financial contributions go to help buy the main meal for families at Thanksgiving.  The other food we collect will be bagged as additional food to help over that week.

We know we don't have to be rewarded for giving to others. Just the act of giving should make everyone's heart full.  But, as an incentive, we will have a popsicle party for the top grade level.  If we get to 6,000 cans as a school, everyone gets two days out of dress code.

Thanks for your generosity so far.  We can't wait to see what comes in next week!!!!  Go Mustangs!!

Angel Tree at RHE

RH has our very own Angel Tree to support our school families that need a little extra love and support over the holidays!

  • Angels will be available for adoption on Thursday, Nov. 18, during drop-off and pick-up in the school lobby.
  • In addition to the angels we have available, we are also asking for 20-25 $25 Walmart gift cards to include for each family. If you don’t have time to shop but want to help spread love and holiday cheer, Walmart gift cards are a great option!
