5th Grade Fundraising News

We need your help!

The Live Thankfully food drive ends this week.   So far, we have collected about 500 items, which is far below our goal.  We have a strong tradition of helping provide meals for hundreds of families each year.  Please help us help others by bringing canned food, soup, mac and cheese, beans, ramen noodles, cereal or peanut butter.  We will collect through Thursday, Nov. 10th.   Mrs. Cotton is offering extra recess to the grade level that brings the most items in.

Out of Dress Code to Benefit Live Thankfully

Wed. & Thurs. Nov. 9th and 10th

Wristbands are $4 each for the two days (cash only)

We will begin to sell wristbands Monday morning before school, and again Wednesday morning.

Mustangs Helping Mustangs

Special request: we need more new or gently-used backpacks for our Ridglea Hills Clothing Closet.

Also a huge THANK YOU to the Ridglea Hills community. Mustangs Helping Mustangs has been an amazing help to our families in need right now. Please know your donations are being used well!

New Date! Carnival is THIS FRIDAY November 11th!
Carnival Volunteer Sign-Ups and Additional Information Is Here!!

Our Ridglea Hills Carnival is quickly approaching! We have TONS of fun games & activities planned and need YOUR help to make this a super fun evening for all of our Mustang families!

What you need to know about Volunteering:

  • Carnival is from 6-8 pm on Friday, Nov. 11th

  • Each grade is in charge of running 2-3 booths

  • Parents sign up for set-up, 30 minute shifts during the Carnival, or clean up...this allows for parents to help a little AND leaves plenty of time to enjoy the event with their families

  • The Carnival Committee will provide all booth materials, prizes and instructions.

  • Middle schoolers, High schoolers and College students can volunteer! They can sign up with the links or email us. Many of our Alumni enjoy helping in the Haunted House and we need them! Email if you, or student, wants to work INSIDE the HH in costume. If they need hours signed off on, please email us or they can bring paperwork that evening.

Sign-Up Genius links are below. Please try and stick to the booths for your grade/grades (for now!)

Run Club Begins Monday, Nov. 7

Run Club starts tomorrow, Nov. 7, after school until 4:15 pm on the track.

We have capped the number of participants in Run Club this year. We want to ensure everyone’s safety by keeping our group at a lower volunteer:runner ratio. We are currently at capacity for Run Club participants. This is first come, first served sign-ups. We will announce when/if we are able to open up to more participants.

The more parent volunteers we have, the more students we can safely have at Run Club. Send an email to any of the coaches if you'd like to volunteer!

Students may not attend without a signed permission form! No exceptions!

Let us know if you have any questions! We are so excited to run Mustang Miles with these kiddos again!

AR is Still Rocking!

Come check out the bulletin boards by the library and see how many record hits we have so far.

It has also been brought to our attention that AR  is back on for home testing, please remember this is not about how many points you can earn, AR is to track the comprehension of our students as they read. It is not a race!

Lastly, we have had questions about why AR points are at 0, this is depending on the teacher and grade, but some teachers track points for a 6 week period. If you look for the box that says marking period, click on it , scroll to the bottom that says 2022-2023 school year, you will be able to see how many total point you have earned for the year and how close you are to your next ribbon.

I hope this clarifies some questions, if you have anything else please feel free to reach out.

Happy reading!! AR Chair, Lesli Hammer: leslihammer44@yahoo.com
