A Note from Principal Cotton

We look forward to our last week together before Thanksgiving break! We had a blast at Carnival Friday night, it was a great turn out!  Thank you Meredith Rowsey, Shelbie Shackelford, Amy Wood, Carrie Woodward, Rance Monk, Jennifer Nevitt, Megan Powers, and all Carnival Committee members and parent volunteers that made this event amazing for our learning community!  It was awesome!

We look forward to our 3rd grade program on Tuesday at 6:30 in the auditorium to hear our students sing under the direction of Mandy Holmes!

We are also looking forward to closing up our week with Mrs. Tracie Harris as she organized Career Day for all of our staff and students this Friday, November 18th!

Love,

Mrs. Cotton

3rd grade will receive an extra hour of recess. The entire school will get two free out of dress codes days.  That date will be announced soon. We also raised $1,000 for Live Thankfully through donations and out of dress code sales. Thanks to all parents, teachers, staff and students for your giving spirit.

Mustang Angel Tree

Ridglea Hills Elementary has our very own Mustang Angel Tree to support our school families that need a little extra love and support over the holidays!

Angels will be available for adoption this Wednesday and Thursday, Nov. 16 & 17, during drop-off and pick-up in the school lobby. Please stop by the tree to pick up a Mustang Angel or two! Take advantage of Black Friday & Cyber Monday deals over Thanksgiving Break.

In addition to the angels we have available, we are also asking for twenty $25 Walmart gift cards to include for each family. If you don’t have time to shop but want to help spread love and holiday cheer, Walmart gift cards are a great option!

If you have any questions, please email Amy Wood at amywood81@gmail.com

Fall Carnival was a BLAST!

Thank you to our MVPs of the night Meredith Rowsey, Shelbie Shackelford and Amy Wood, along with VP Programs Jenn Nevitt and Principal Cotton for making this all possible! We had a great turnout, the kids had fun, and the school is still in one piece!!!!

We appreciate Christine Hudson and her room parents and volunteers who set up and manned each booth as well as cleaned up! Shout out to Nurse Carrie Woodward and 3rd Grade Parents for creating a scary Haunted House!

Also thank you to Mrs. Poe and 5th Grade Fundraising for having some awesome snacks as well as pizza. Thank you to our custodial staff for keeping the craziness contained! Shout out to Mr. Heick for keeping the jams going along with our staff and teachers for working the ticket booths!

Finally… Thank you to all those that came last night! We appreciate your patience throughout the past three weeks! As you can see it takes a village to make things happen!

We Are Ridglea!

Order Chess Club Shirts by 11/17!
AR is Still Rocking!

Come check out the bulletin boards by the library and see how many record hits we have so far.

It has also been brought to our attention that AR  is back on for home testing, please remember this is not about how many points you can earn, AR is to track the comprehension of our students as they read. It is not a race!

Lastly, we have had questions about why AR points are at 0, this is depending on the teacher and grade, but some teachers track points for a 6 week period. If you look for the box that says marking period, click on it , scroll to the bottom that says 2022-2023 school year, you will be able to see how many total point you have earned for the year and how close you are to your next ribbon.

I hope this clarifies some questions, if you have anything else please feel free to reach out.

Happy reading!! AR Chair, Lesli Hammer: leslihammer44@yahoo.com
