A Note from Our Principal

Mustang Families,

It has been a great start with the first two weeks of school!  Our students are learning, having fun, and appear to be enjoying school.

Starting on Monday, students in grades K-5 will be taking the MAP assessments in math and reading.  These baseline assessments will provide valuable information to teachers and staff to support our students on their levels for academic growth.  Please make sure that your student gets plenty of rest, all screens are off at a certain time, and that if they don’t eat breakfast at school, they receive a breakfast before arriving.  These assessments will be ongoing throughout the week until all students are assessed.

I would like to wish everyone a wonderful Labor Day Holiday on Sept. 4th and I look forward to seeing everyone soon!!

Wish Love,

Crenesha Cotton

Principal

This Week's Reminders

MAP Testing: Please make sure that your child’s technology  device is fully charged.  They will be taking the assessment on their iPads.  Also, please note: smartwatches, cellphones, or any other type of device isn’t permitted during the test.  Students can’t be in possession of their personal technology, it is a violation of testing regulations.

Labor Day Weekend Holiday: No school this Friday, Sept. 1 or Monday, Sept. 4

College Colors Day: On Thursday, Aug. 31, your child can show their pride for their favorite college or parents alma maters by wearing their favorite college t-shirt or colors!

PTA Packets came home last week! Check out the pink packet FULL of all the information you need! You can turn in the completed volunteer, membership, and room parent interest forms to the front office or your child's teacher.  Make sure and save the UPDATED calendar so you know when all of the fun events are happening! (Please note: Hot Dog Supper and Fine Arts Day dates have been updated).

Mustangs Supporting Mustangs
Secret Buddies

We need your help! Each of our nearly 80 staff members will be paired with a “secret buddy” for the school year. These buddies shower staff with little gifts, surprises and treats throughout the year. Everyone that works at Ridglea Hills Elementary plays a role in our children’s lives, and this is a quick and easy to show them some appreciation and love.

If you are interested in being a secret buddy, or want to know more about how it works, please reach out to Mary Loudermilk at MLLOUDERMILK@gmail.com. If you have a staff member or grade level request, please include that in your email. Thank you for being an important part of our Ridglea Hills Elementary community!

Celebrate your child's birthday in style!

Mustang Stampede is back and ready to thrill your kids with a surprise appearance on their birthday or any special occasion!

Your $30 donation (which goes to support the 5th grade field trip) includes 12 mustang signs and a Ridglea Hills sign. Happy Birthday signs can be included as well! Just let us know!

Reservations must be made at least a week in advance.

Reserve your special day now! What a fun way to support your 5th grade families and show the neighborhood your RH spirit!

We are now taking reservations for the month of August and September.

Please email rhstampede@gmail.com to make your reservation. Include the date and address. You will receive an email reply to confirm your reservation (we have 2 sets of signs, so we can make 2 reservations per day). After your reservation is confirmed, you can pay via Venmo, via Membership Toolkit or cash or check. Information will be sent to you regarding payment.
