SUBJECT: RH Pony Post: Week of Sep. 11

A Note from Our Principal

Hi RHE school family,

We are excited to announce our first House Day of the year – Friday, September 15! See flier below for more information. We just started this tradition last year and I'm so thrilled to introduce it to all of our new families as well as continue it with all of our students who embraced it so much last year! It's just one more thing that makes our Ridglea Hills family so special!

We are also looking forward to a fantastic Grandparents'/Special Persons day with all of our visitors on Monday, September 11th.  I can't wait to meet and see  everyone that is coming for lunch to eat with our babies!

Walkathon Updates

WOW!  What an amazing first week of Walkathon FUNdraising!  Thanks for the many ways you have already supported our sweet school.

This week, we have a fun and exciting challenge: Mustangs….Blow us Away! Help us off to a great start towards our fundraising goal…the class that brings in the most NUMBER of sponsors will get to toilet paper an RHE staff member with a leaf blower!

Don’t forget to ask your friends, family and neighbors to help support Ridglea Hills! Sponsorship forms are available in your Walkathon Packet, in the front office, or they can be purchased online at RHPTA.com.

Please be sure to include the student(s) name on all sponsorship forms so each class can receive credit. ALL sponsorships turned in by 9/15/2023 will count towards the challenge.

Our restaurant night this week is on Wednesday, September 13th at Zoli’s Pizza on Hulen Street from 5pm - 10pm.  You can dine in or takeout!  Mention Ridglea Hills Elementary and a portion of the proceeds go right back to our school.

Just a reminder that if you have not turned in your child’s Walkathon Permission Slip, please make sure that these are sent back to their classroom by this Tuesday, September 12th.

If you are looking to order more shirts or submit donations online, please go to the Membership Toolkit site online at RHPTA.com

We also have several opportunities for volunteers to help with Spirit Shop. Sign up here if you can help at any point throughout this month.

We will be having Spirit Shop (items are $1 - $4), Out of Dress, and Kona Ice again this week.  Spirit Shop will also include some goodies for your child’s house colors in case you need more flair!  See below for important dates this week.

Show our RHE staff some love!

Room parents still needed!

Thank you to those who have shown interest in being a room parent this school year.  The room parent roster is almost filled!

We have just a few classes still in need of lead room parents:

Moreno, Wayland, Dutton, Conahan, Tena, Blakley, Colston & Andersen.

If you have students in any of these classes and would be interested in helping in this way, please email Christine Hudson or fill out this form.

Secret Buddies

Thank you so much to everyone who has reached out to take on a secret buddy this year! We still have about 20 staff members who need to be placed with a buddy.

If you were interested but got busy with life, please reach out to Mary Loudermilk via email at MLLOUDERMILK@gmail.com if you would still like to participate.

Buddies can also be shared with another parent/friend/family, so if you would like to partner with a friend to cover a buddy, that is great too!

And finally, if you have an extra big heart and have already been assigned a buddy and are willing to take on a second buddy, that would be awesome. Thank you for helping show the love to our awesome RHE staff!

Accelerated Reader program

Our Accelerated Reader (AR) program is off to a "Wild" start! We're excited to have our first ribbon announcements for last month, this Tuesday, September 12 during announcements!

For more information on our AR program, please ask your child's teacher. It's a great way to improve their reading skills, they get recognized on the announcements each time they complete a level PLUS they can earn points towards "cash" to spend at our super awesome AR store at the end of the year!

Calling all volunteers!

Please use the link or QR code below to submit your volunteer interests. You may also fill out the volunteer form and return to your teacher or email VP of Volunteers, Megan Powers, at meganpowers84@yahoo.com

Fort Worth ISD requires an online background check process for all school volunteers. Background checks must be completed every year for volunteers; they do not carry over to the next school year. For those with students in multiple schools, one background check is sufficient, as it covers all of Fort Worth ISD. To complete your mandatory application and background check to volunteer through Fort Worth ISD, please visit:  https://www.fwisd.org/volunteer.
