SUBJECT: RH Pony Post: Week of Oct. 30

A Note from Our Principal

Red Ribbon Week and our Fall Carnival were amazing! I would like to give a special “shout out” to Sara Etter, Megan Powers, Emily Pence, and Ashley Zucarelli for all their hard work making our carnival an outstanding success!

This week we are looking forward to our “pink out” day, tomorrow, October 30th, to support breast cancer awareness! Also, our storybook parade will take place on October 31st. Please see all the details for Storybook parade below. We look forward to seeing everyone this week.

Enjoy your Sunday and this wonderful Fall weather.

Love,

Mrs. Cotton

Thank you, Sara, and committee for providing such a fun carnival for our Ridglea Hills Family on Friday!

Pink Out

On Monday, October 30, 2023, all students and staff are invited to wear pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Storybook Parade
Tuesday, October 31st

Pre-K through 1st Grade will parade around the track and parents are invited to watch.  Grades 2-5 are welcome to dress-up, but will not participate in the parade.

**All costumes/storybook characters must be school appropriate and not scary.**

STEM Night

Join us at Ridglea Hills on Thursday, November 2nd from 5:30-7:00 for a fun-filled night of STEM activities! All grade levels are invited to visit the different classrooms and enjoy various Math and Science activities!

Please bring a canned good for our Live Thankfully canned food drive!

Live Thankfully
October 30th - November 9th

Please help us collect non-perishable food items.  This food drive serves many families in need within our community.  Bring canned items, boxed items, beans, snacks, cereal, etc.

Items will be collected by grade level!

Career Day Volunteers Needed

Do you want to talk to students about your career including the education/training it took to get there?

Do you know someone in the community who would be an excellent Career Day addition?

Career Day is scheduled for Friday, November 17 and we're looking for volunteers to help teach our students about the different types of careers that exist in the world today. Our goal is to expose students to a wide variety of careers with the hope that their interest will be piqued by one or more of them.

Interested in volunteering? Please fill out this form by November 3.

Questions? Please contact Tracie Harris, RHE School Counselor, at 817-815-1715 or tracie.harris@fwisd.org

'Tis the Season for Giving

The holidays will be here before we know it! Once again, our school will have our very own Angel Tree again to help out our fellow Mustangs in need!

If you are a family in need of assistance this holiday season, please reach out to RHE School Counselor, Tracie Harris by November 3.

Additionally, with cooler temperatures FINALLY here, we are in need of donations of sweatshirts, coats, jackets, hats and mittens for our clothing closet.

We also have an ongoing need of snacks for the weekly snack packs. Items needed include ramen/mac and cheese, granola bars, chips/cookies, fruit snacks, fruit bar/pop tarts/oatmeal. Basically anything ‘snacky’ and shelf stable! Clothing and food donations can be placed in the large bin outside the front door.

For more information, please contact school counselor, Tracie Harris at tracie.harris@fwisd.org or 817-815-1715.

Early Dismissals are going Electronic!

“The process” itself hasn’t changed - we are just helping to expedite the process. The early dismissal sign-out is in the office and will still be used as needed. We have created a google doc that parents may complete in advance for early dismissals. This is an effort to alleviate parents having to reach out to teachers directly during instruction time and eliminate a long wait for your student to come up to the office, especially when time is critical. We will call the student(s) a few minutes before the requested dismissal time and have them wait for pick up. If the students have not been picked up within 5 minutes of the requested dismissal time, we will return them to class.

Here are answers to a few FAQs:

Q: Who can submit the early dismissal request form?
A: Only contacts listed in FOCUS can request an early dismissal.

Q: Are IDs required?
A: Yes. Authorized contacts MUST present a valid, government issued ID before the student will be released.

Q: What’s the earliest I can request an early dismissal?
A: Electronic requests can be made as early as parents would like for the same day. Students will be marked absent if they are not in class at 10am.

Q: What’s the latest time for early dismissals?
A: 2pm for Pre-K, 2:45 K -5

If there are any other questions, please contact the main office (817) 815-1700.

Please use the link or QR code below to submit your volunteer interests. You may also fill out the volunteer form and return to your teacher or email VP of Volunteers, Megan Powers, at meganpowers84@yahoo.com

Fort Worth ISD requires an online background check process for all school volunteers. Background checks must be completed every year for volunteers; they do not carry over to the next school year. For those with students in multiple schools, one background check is sufficient, as it covers all of Fort Worth ISD. To complete your mandatory application and background check to volunteer through Fort Worth ISD, please visit:  https://www.fwisd.org/volunteer.
