SUBJECT: RH Pony Post: Week of March 3rd

A Note from Our Principal

Happy Sunday Everyone,

I just want to thank everyone for an amazing FAD!  The creative "Let the Games Begin" theme and engaging activities for everyone were beyond exciting!  It was one for the books for the entire RHE Community!  Thank you to Amy Burch and the FAD Committee for their endless hours of hard work and commitment to ensuring that this past Friday would be an unforgettable one!

As we enter March, we are excited about Women's History Month. We will celebrate all women and their historical achievements, which opened doors for the opportunities that we have today.  Please be on the lookout for celebratory events throughout the month.

We have five more days until Spring Break, and I want to wish everyone a wonderful and relaxing time to unplug and enjoy their time off!  We are looking forward to finishing the year strong and working hard to continue our preparation for our upcoming STAAR assessments when we return.

Enjoy your weekend,

Mrs. Cotton

Fine Arts Day Thank Yous!

Can you believe the FUN that we had on Friday? This Fine Arts Day was definitely a winner!

A HUGE shout out to our Fine Arts Day Chair, Amy Burch and her AMAZING committee (Christine Hudson, Megan Powers, Cailey Walton, Erin Mitchell, Nancy Sticksel, Meredith Rowsey, and Macy Holloway). Thank you also to Don Burch for his unwavering support of FAD! THANK YOU for the hours upon hours spent crafting and creating the decorations, designing shirts and graphics, coordinating lunch, and organizing over 100 volunteers. We are so grateful for such a winning team!

The magic of Fine Arts Day would not be possible without ALL of our incredible volunteers!

Thank you to:

  • The Thursday night decorators who helped to transform the school into a magical gaming experience.
  • The at-home crafters who took on decor projects.
  • The supply runners that took care of last minute errands.
  • The artists that gave their time and gifts to give every child at RH a day full of experiences.
  • The all day volunteers that helped our artists feel welcome.
  • Our pyramid schools teachers and students and other RHE alum that ran activities and helped to decorate the school.
  • BeSmart Builders for donating paint and plywood for out outdoor decorations.
  • Our lunch volunteers that helped cover the classes during lunch and recess so our teachers can take a much deserved break.
  • Our incredible room parents that decorated each and every door with the CUTEST decor to match the theme. Your creativity was top notch!

THANK YOU ALL! This amazing day was only possible because of each of you!

Teachers are beginning to talk with students about UIL.  Students in grades 2-5 who are interested in participating in UIL should talk with their teachers.  Mark your calendars for Saturday, May 11.  Ridglea Hills will host the FWISD Elementary UIL Academic Meet.  More details to come.  If you have questions about events, reach out to Laura Hixon at laura.hixon@fwisd.org or your child's teacher.

RHPTA News
We Need You!

Before we know it, the end of the school year will be here and it will be time to elect next year's RHPTA Board.  All the fun activities, programs, fundraisers, and events would not be possible without the help of each of you!

Are you interested in helping serve on the RHTPA Board next year? If you are curious in learning more about a position or want to serve, please fill out THIS FORM by March 31st.  Check any and all positions that interest you.  Filling out this form in no way commits you to serving, but does help us know who would be a good fit for each of the roles.  A description of each of the positions is also available by clicking the form link.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out to Julie Dore (julieddore@gmail.com).

Early Dismissals are Now Electronic!

“The process” itself hasn’t changed - we are just helping to expedite the process. The early dismissal sign-out is in the office and will still be used as needed. We have created a google doc that parents may complete in advance for early dismissals. This is an effort to alleviate parents having to reach out to teachers directly during instruction time and eliminate a long wait for your student to come up to the office, especially when time is critical. We will call the student(s) a few minutes before the requested dismissal time and have them wait for pick up. If the students have not been picked up within 5 minutes of the requested dismissal time, we will return them to class. The form is available below, or on the PTA website - rhpta.com

Here are answers to a few FAQs:

Q: Who can submit the early dismissal request form?
A: Only contacts listed in FOCUS can request an early dismissal.

Q: Are IDs required?
A: Yes. Authorized contacts MUST present a valid, government issued ID before the student will be released.

Q: What’s the earliest I can request an early dismissal?
A: Electronic requests can be made as early as parents would like for the same day. Students will be marked absent if they are not in class at 10am.

Q: What’s the latest time for early dismissals?
A: 2pm for Pre-K, 2:45 K -5

If there are any other questions, please contact the main office (817) 815-1700.
